Organically grown bamboo / ECO-CERT and FSC certification

Bamboo belongs to the grass family and consists of over 1,400 different species. The shoots of some of the species are known to grow up to 90 cm in a day. The species used for the production of viscose are Bambusa emeiensis and Phyllostachys edulis, both of which are grown organically (ECO-CERT) on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified plantations in the southern part of China. Neither fertilizer nor spray is used. During growth, no artificial irrigation is required either, which is a very big difference compared to e.g. eg cotton production, which requires a lot of water during growth. When the bamboo is harvested, it is cut off at the root, which makes room for new shoots. In this way, the soil is saved from depletion.

Patented viscose process in a closed circuit

When the bamboo is harvested, it is cut into smaller tiles that are made into viscose through a process that uses chemicals such as caustic soda and carbon disulfide. Here it is absolutely essential that the process takes place in a closed circuit, which means that there are no exhaust gases of any kind that are harmful to nature and people are released during production. All viscose for our production of socks and underwear is produced in a patented closed circuit where the chemicals used are also reused and waste water is purified.

The properties of bamboo viscose

The fabric is not only silky soft, but it also breathes better than, for example, cotton. Bamboo viscose also has the ability to absorb and retain moisture to a greater extent than cotton.
This makes the garment feel more comfortable both on hot and cold days. For example, you can wear our leggings and base tops under your hiking clothes for better temperature regulation.
